中文

我在大学一年级学习汉语,但是我的汉语还不太好了.我不可以说汉语,应为我的语法有限的.今天晚上我回图书馆看一下这本书:

"走进中国"
-初级本

大学的图书馆不远,大概走十五分钟.

I don't know what else to write now haha.

Oh well.

Fridge

My housemate has emptied his groceries and his girlfriend has done the same! Now I have more space in the fridge to store all the yummy yummy stuff

Previously it was all six of us to a tiny tiny fridge. So, you can imagine the amount of food inside there. As all of us cook (eating out is bloody expensive), hence we get our own groceries from Vicmart and then cook our own meals

The last time I check I could swear there was something black and smelly at the back of the fridge. Couldn't really make out what it was, probably some left over pork or even some rotten vege. Or it could be a yummy apple pie that turned bad already.

Now I have a whole shelf to myself, and so do the other four housemates in the house. I bought some youghurt (1.2L tub that only costs $4... bloody cheap), some fruit juice (2L for something like $2.20), jam, bread, cereal, museli, lamb, whoa... all the delicious food. And on Tuesday I will buy some peaches and grapes from Vicmart.

And if you were wondering where did my housemate and his girlfriend dunk his food? He put it in the huge fridge that has been sitting in the garage downstairs for goodness knows how long. Shit him. Now he has tons of fruit juice and other yummy stuff in that fridge (did I mention that the fridge was his own?) that I can't touch. Oh well. At least I can have my own space now and not need to worry about overcrowding.

As they say, all gay men want some space. Hey, I got some, didn't I? :)

Cranbourne

I met Steve on Gay.com as well as Fridae.com

I think initially I didn't really respond to his messages. He sent me a couple but perhaps I just didn't get them (they may have got lost in the mail as I have a limit of 10 messages at any one time in my inbox, which by the way is almost always full), or maybe I did get them but I just deleted them and didn't care about it.

Well, I did this one time, and we exchanged phone numbers and MSN contacts.

God, he drives a convertible. Second hand, but still in good shape. That's how he met me the first time; in his convertible. We were on the Westgate freeway with the convertible's top down, cruising at 100kmph and having the radio blaring in our ears.

The funny thing about his radio was that I could hear it clearly even though there was wind whizzing past my ears. Perhaps the radio was unidirectional; It might be that his radio pinpoints radio waves into the passenger's ears unlike conventional radio speakers which just blare radio waves into all directions. I could hear the music loud and clear, and it was good to feel Victorian air all over my head and have the sun on your back while flying on an eight lane expressway.

Imagine that.

Totally blew off my mind.

I went over to his house which was near Cranbourne. Bloody freaking far if you ask me, past Dandenong and Frankston, a little to the East of the two I think. It was as though I was entering a totally different world. Cranbourne was nothing like Patterson Lakes or Chadstone, two far away places which I thought was remote enough. No, Cranbourne was even more remote... A quiet town where houses were large and lawns even larger, with white picket fences that reminded me of Wisteria Lane

Oh and by the way, Cranbourne is about the distance of KL to Seremban.

He had a huge huge huge plasma TV... huge huge huge house... huge huge huge bathroom and a very bloody hell huge huge lawn...

If I were to estimate the size of his house, it could be anywhere between 3000-5000 square feet, and total land area including lawn no less than 10,000 square feet (though I have been known to exaggerate, believe me this time will ya?)

Wonderful house... really wonderful...

We had drive-in KFC (which tasted quite good, if you like) and we sat on his couch eating the chicken over a movie on his plasma TV...

He later took me again in his convertible (this time with the top down; you don't want to be in the car driving at 100kmph while the outdoor temperature is anywhere between 13-16degrees) and he took me to this remote area called Koo Wee Rup, to an observation deck called Koo Wee Rup Observation Deck (it faces Phillip Island and was somewhere along Rossiter Rd I think)... that was another 45 minutes drive at 100kmph from his house. It was so very remote that the road was a single lane and there were few lights to be seen for many kilometers. All I could see was bush and darkness until I got out of the car at Koo Wee Rup and looked up at the sky...

It was so dark, so remote, that I could see the Milky Way.

Yes, I'm serious.

Tried to take it using my camera but it was too faint... didn't really get much in the pictures other than a few isolated bright stars.

And I even saw a shooting star... no kidding.

I went home the next day from Merinda Park station (thank goodness for Sunday Saver tickets, $2.50 all day all zones) which was 10 minutes from any other train station... yes, that place was damn remote. I could see hills, cows, acres and acres of grassland and isolated houses that seem to sit all on their own in the browning grass

1 hour later I was in Melbourne Central, at the heart of urban living once more.

Gosh I miss Cranbourne.

Bike

Yahoo!!! The bike has finally been assembled!

Now I can ride to uni and wake up later :)

I tried riding it over to Safeway and carrying a ton of groceries... not a good thing to try, really. Nearly rammed into a trailer haha

I've got a couple of scratches on it already.. eek...

I think I will go and buy some of those plastic foam protectors to protect my precious baby

Ahahahahaa

Bicycle

I bought my new bike today!

It only cost me $88. I bought it from BigW (something like Carrefour) and it was on promotion.

There are several bike types in Australia, most of them are local brands. Topping the list in terms of quality and design are GT, Giant and Shogun, followed closely by Malvern Star and Mongoose. These bikes cost anywhere between $300 up to $8000.

So, as you can see, my bike was a cheap one. It's a Dunlop one by the way.

I actually took at tram down to QV on Lionsdale St and bought the bike there right after my Chemistry tute. It was really heavy, about 20kg and it was a large package.

I found a taxi at the intersection of Lionsdale and Elisabeth St and decided to take one home.. that was the first time I sat in a taxi. Well, I wouldn't call it a taxi per se; it was a station wagon so I could fit the bike in the back.

Needless to say the ride home cost me $7.30.. sigh.. so expensive..

Anyway, I was trying to assemble the bike until I discovered that I don't have Allen screws; I need it to attach the handle to the main frame and to adjust the front breaks.

Funny though, the cost of the additional stuff that I bought had a combined price equal to two of my bikes. I bought a D-Lock, safety lights and a helmet (all mandatory in Victoria) and I spent about $160 for it.

Gosh. At this rate I should protect the D-Lock more than the bike!!!!!

I want to get a basket for the back so that I can carry groceries and stuff (yeah, an additional $100 dollars for that)

I love the bike... can't wait to ride it.

Commonwealth Games

I attended the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony parade along the Yarra river, at Binarrung marr to be exact.

There were tens of thousands of people.. seriously it was choking with pedestrians. The Trams Trains and Buses were all jam packed with people streaming out of them like tiny ants emerging from their nest

Flinders St Station was so packed that they had to declare one-way-lanes to cope with the increased human traffic.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was probably packed with around 100,000 people and there were half that number gathered along the Yarra, most people being residents of Victoria themselves.

Occasionally you'd see the hint of a tourist but it was hard to tell as Melbourne was already so cosmopolitan; you couldn't even tell the difference between an elephant and a rat

I had decided to go down early (which meant 5.00pm, as the games opening was scheduled to begin at 8.30pm) but boy I should have gone earlier. There were people everywhere. You'd never get to see even a turf of grass; someone's ass would have been on it.

The fish on the Yarra were not so impressive. I had the impression that they were a failed attempt to impress people. Come on, multi-coloured lighting and fountains that squirt out in all directions... I'm sure they could have done better than this!

Finally everything started and I could view the scene inside the MCG on one of the two huge displays placed along the Yarra.

The fireworks was unpredictable. I didn't know it would stream out from the top of the buildings in the CBD so I didn't get a clear shot of them. I thought that the action would all be on the river itself so I crept to a spot closest to the river bank, allowing the tree brances to obscure the view of the buildings behind me. When the fireworks finally lit up I wasn't ready to snap them so I missed the shot.

I couldn't take nice pictures but they were quite good none the less. Do check out the pictures on my MSN Space.

I headed home just in time to see the final few minutes of fireworks on the telly... it was beautiful

The Games has begun!

Now I can brag about being there and seeing it LIVE :)

Where the Bloody Hell Are You?

We've poured you a beer

And we've had the camels shampooed

We've saved you a spot on the beach

And we've got the sharks outta the pool

We got the 'roos off the green

And Bill's on his way down to open the front gate

Your taxi's waiting

And dinner's about to be served

We've turned on the lights

And we've been rehearsing for over 40,000 years

So where the bloody hell are you?

Love the advertisement. Pity with all the noise being made about the word "bloody" in the UK.
